During this episode of "Why Do Pets Matter?" Professor Delcianna Winders speaks with us about the incredible work she is doing in the world of animal advocacy and animal law.
Pets matter because they are sentient beings — and other animals, including billions of animals suffering on factory farms with inadequate legal protections, matter for the same reason.
Human, animal, and environmental interests are intertwined.
The Animal Law and Policy Institute is training future leaders in animal advocacy while centering animals in the fight for environmental protection
About Delci Winders:
Professor Delcianna (Delci) Winders is the founding director of Vermont Law School’s Animal Law and Policy Institute, which trains future leaders in animal advocacy while centering animals in the fight for environmental protection.
Prior to joining the VLS faculty, Winders was on the faculty of Lewis & Clark Law School, where she directed the world’s first law school clinic dedicated to farmed animal advocacy.
She previously served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at the PETA Foundation, the first Academic Fellow of the Harvard Animal Law & Policy Program, and a visiting scholar at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University.
Winders has also taught animal law at Tulane University School of Law and Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
